Sump Pump Cost

Sump Pump CostThe cost of a sump pump can be broken down in a number of different ways. First you must decide what type of sump pump you want to use for your basement waterproofing efforts. You need to choose between either a pedestal pump or a submersible pump. Once you make your decision on the type of pump you will then need to decide whether or not you need a professional to install the pump for you.

Cost of the Sump Pump

The actual sump pump unit cost will vary depending on which type of sump pump you choose. A submersible pump typically cost more than pedestal pumps and cost more to do maintenance but will do an overall better job of removing water from your basement compared with a pedestal pump.

Price: $100-$200 for a basic plastic pump with a 1/2 hp motor up to $500+ for a steel constructed sump pump.

Sump Pump Installation Cost

Typically a pedestal pump will not require professional installation since it sits above the basement floor and no digging is required but if installation is still needed it shouldn’t cost more than a couple of hundred dollars to install a pedestal pump. A submersible pump on the other hand can cost quite a bit more due to having to dig out the concrete floor, install the pump and design a way for the pump to discharge the water out and away from the house.

Price: $1500-$5000+ for the installation of a submersible sump pump as well as the appropriate system to handle and remove the water.
